PETALING JAYA: Three Malaysian men’s doubles pairs progressed to the second round of the Australia Open in Sydney today, after defeating their respective Taiwanese opponents.
World No 4 duo Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani dominated He Zhi Wei-Huang Jui Hsuan 21-10, 21-10 in just 24 minutes. The duo had narrowly missed out on a World Tour Finals (WTF) spot after failing to reach the Kumamoto Masters final in Japan last week.
World No 5 pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, who have already qualified for the WTF, won their opener against Chiang Chien Wei-Wu Hsuan Yi 23-21, 21-16.
