PETALING JAYA: Top Malaysian men&#8217;s doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik stormed into the All England semi-finals after defeating compatriots Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun today.
However, the world No 2 pair had to battle for 61 minutes before overcoming Wei Chong-Kai Wun 21-16, 20-22, 21-14 in the quarter-finals played at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.
This is the fifth time Aaron-Wooi Yik have beaten their compatriots in eight encounters.
In the semi-finals, the Malaysians will meet either Indonesian pair Muhammad Rian Ardianto-Rahmat Hidayat or China&#8217;s Chen Bo Yang- Liu Yi.
Women&#8217;s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah will take on Indonesia’s Fabriana Dwipuji Kesuma-Meilysa Trias Puspitasari early morning tomorrow.
The All England Championships offers a total prize money of US$1.45 million.
Winners of the men&#8217;s doubles title take home US$107,300 while the runners-up pocket US$50,750. The semi-finalists win US$20,300 each.
