Chief Justice Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh says although AI may augment judicial work, it cannot replace the essence of what a lawyer or judge does.

PETALING JAYA: Chief Justice Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh has likened artificial intelligence (AI) to a chainsaw – useful in the right hands but super dangerous in the wrong ones.

The top judge said AI is now being deployed in legal research, contract analysis, predictive analytics and even in existing judicial decision-making, Bernama reported.

However, Wan Farid reminded that although AI might augment judicial work, it could not replace the essence of what a lawyer or judge does.
