KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has brushed off calls for him to resign over the government’s decision to sign the reciprocal trade agreement (ART) with the US, saying he has grown tired of such demands.
Defending the government’s decision to sign the deal, Anwar said Malaysia is not the only country to do so, pointing out that even an economic superpower like China is negotiating with the US over reciprocal tariffs imposed on the republic.
“This is not about surrendering (or) betraying (our country) or (subjecting it to) a new form of colonialism.
