PETALING JAYA: Aeroline express bus services have been suspended for one month, from Nov 6 to Dec 5, the Land Transport Agency (Apad) confirmed today.
Apad said in a statement that the suspension was enforced after three show-cause letters had been issued to coach operator Zulco Sdn Bhd between March 13 and Oct 10.
The company was found to have misused its operating licence by picking up and dropping off passengers at unauthorised locations.
The company had been previously warned to operate from authorised terminals but had failed to comply, Apad said.
Aeroline coaches were found to have been operating outside approved terminals without Apad permission on Feb 3, May 21, and Oct 10, Bernama quoted the statement as saying.
Aeroline operates coach services between Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Penang, Johor Bahru, and Singapore. Its web site shows that passengers board and disembark at commercial areas: in Kuala Lumpur, at Corus hotel in Jalan Ampang; at 1Utama mall in Bandar Utama; Sunway Pyramid in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya; Queensbay mall in Penang; Persada convention centre in Johor Bahru; and Harbour Point centre in Singapore.
Apad said its licence suspension and cancellation committee had on Oct 21 determined that the company was guilty of repeated violations and imposed a 30-day suspension of its operating licence.
&#8220;This action is aimed at ensuring passenger safety, reducing traffic congestion in urban areas, and supporting the efforts of local authorities, including Kuala Lumpur City Hall and other municipal bodies, to create a more orderly, safe, and efficient urban environment,&#8221; the statement added.
Three show-cause letters were issued between March 13 and Oct 10 for repeated violations. The company acknowledged its infractions, in official responses to warnings to relocate its service operations to approved terminals, but had failed to comply, Apad said.
