The world No 24 pair are the first Malaysian men’s doubles champions at the Macau Open in 12 years.

KUALA LUMPUR: National shuttlers Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King captured their first BWF World Tour title after winning the men’s doubles final at the Macau Open today.

The world No 24 Malaysians fought hard to upset Indonesia’s world No 8 pair Moh Reza Pahlevi-Sabar Karyaman Gutama 22-20, 21-18 in 79 minutes.

The match was repeatedly delayed as rainwater leaked through the roof of the Macau East Asian Games Dome, forcing officials to mop the court after almost every point.
