PETALING JAYA: Azani Omar, the former police aide-de-camp to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, has been appointed the new Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief effective today.

Azani, 51, from Kelantan, replaces Usuf Jan, who retired upon reaching the compulsory retirement age today.

The handover of duties at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters was witnessed by Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus and attended by senior police officers and personnel.
