PETALING JAYA: Bank Rakyat has offered to defer monthly instalment payments to people and customers affected by the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.
It said customers under its home financing-i, vehicle financing-i, hire purchase vehicle leasing-i, personal financing-i, credit card-i, pawn financing-i, micro financing-i and education financing-i plans can apply for payment deferment assistance for up to six months.
In a Bernama report, the bank said it is also offering debit and credit card replacements at no charge to affected customers.
“Customers who wish to apply for special assistance under Bank Rakyat’s payment deferment can contact us via email at telerakyat@bankrakyat.com.my, Bank Rakyat call centre at 1300-800-800 or visit the nearest Bank Rakyat branch,” it said.
Bank Rakyat also said it had donated RM10,000 to the Putra Heights mosque, which has been converted into a temporary relief centre for victims of the incident.
Separately, Malayan Banking Bhd said it is ready to support those impacted by the blaze.
In a Facebook post, the bank said it is offering a range of relief measures to help ease the victims’ financial burden during this challenging time. 
“To apply, email us at weassist@maybank.com or visit any of our branches/centres.
“For our small and medium enterprise customers, we encourage them to contact their relationship managers for assistance,” said the bank. 
Maybank Group&#8217;s insurance arm Etiqa will also provide coverage for all eligible customers impacted by this unfortunate incident.
Those affected can submit a claim through the Etiqa special hotline at +6011-1630-6646 (WhatsApp) or +603-2692-8188.
