The central bank also says that the ringgit has strengthened by 5.1% against the US dollar, primarily driven by broad US dollar weakness.

PETALING JAYA: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has maintained its 2025 gross domestic product (GDP) projection of between 4% and 4.8%, taking into consideration a range of possible outcomes from tariff negotiations.

BNM governor Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said the central bank had taken a tariff assumption of between 25% and 30% during tariff negotiations.

Malaysia’s exports to the US were subjected to a 19% tariff effective Aug 1.
