PETALING JAYA: A study being conducted by the government into laws linked to the handling of riots risks being turned into a tool to justify predetermined policies instead of being a credible effort to understand matters, a coalition of civil society groups said.
Sekretariat Himpun urged the government to immediately cancel the study, accusing it of bias in its questions.
Its spokesman, Azura Nasron, said the questions, sent to civil society groups, did not clearly distinguish between peaceful assemblies and riots.
