National deaf bowling head coach Joe Tay said he had to constantly remind the victorious men’s doubles pair to stay composed.

TOKYO: Malaysia’s first gold at the Deaflympics 2025 was no stroke of luck but a result of hard work, discipline and mental focus from the men’s doubles bowling pair, who rose to the occasion at the Higashiyamato Grand Bowl here yesterday.

National deaf bowling head coach Joe Tay said he had to constantly remind Syabil Azam Syamsul Azam and Ho Choon Seong to stay composed in the final against Ukraine.

“This victory belongs to the players. They followed every instruction with absolute commitment. Everyone was on edge and the pressure was tremendous. I just kept telling them to relax.
