PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a man for allegedly threatening Zamri Vinoth, as seen in a video shared by the controversial preacher.
Penang police chief Azizee Ismail said a man in his 20s was detained in Bukit Mertajam early this morning after Zamri lodged a report at the Seberang Perai Tengah police station, Bernama reported.
“The suspect is being held to assist with the investigation under Sections 506 and 427 of the Penal Code,” he said, citing provisions for criminal intimidation and committing mischief that causes loss or damage to property.
Azizee said investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the incident.
Last night, Zamri shared a 19-second video clip of two unidentified men on a motorcycle and four others on foot approaching a parked Jaguar.
Zamri claimed on Facebook that he was the driver and alleged that the men were acting due to “incitement and a false police report” by Bukit Jelutong MP RSN Rayer.
In the video, the car is seen leaving the parking space as the men approach.
Zamri, in his post, admitted to “running over” two men on the motorcycle after they allegedly threw rocks at his car and broke two windows.
However, Rayer questioned whether Zamri was the driver of the car and why he was in Bukit Mertajam despite the cancellation of a planned protest against a shrine at the hospital.
&#8220;If Zamri was the driver of this luxury Jaguar, would he be arrested for driving recklessly and dangerously and almost killing the motorcyclist whom he knocked down?&#8221; he asked in a statement.
