PETALING JAYA: Selangor police are investigating incidents involving activist S Chandrasegaran, better known as Cikgu Chandra, for criminal intimidation, mischief and mischief by fire.
Chandrasegaran said two unidentified men wearing black masks and carrying parangs damaged the iron grille at the front of his house in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, and smashed the rear window of his Perodua Viva yesterday afternoon.
Three of Chandrasegaran’s vehicles were destroyed in a fire after objects believed to be petrol bombs (Molotov cocktails) were thrown at his home in the early hours this morning.
Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the first incident is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
The second incident is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which relates to mischief by fire.
“Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and those involved in the incidents,” he said in a statement.
He also issued a strong reminder to the public not to make speculative or provocative statements that could affect racial harmony or public order.
Shazeli warned that firm action would be taken against anyone found to have violated the law.
Earlier today, national unity minister Aaron Ago Dagang urged the police to act against those involved in the incidents, stating that such actions threatened Malaysia’s racial and religious harmony.
