The world No 7 pair qualified by coming from a game behind in the semi-final to defeat their more fancied Indonesian rivals Muhammad Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto.

PETALING JAYA: It was a dream debut for Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani at the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China, as they made history by being the first Malaysian men’s doubles pair to qualify for the final since its inception in 2018.

Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin, ranked world No 7, clawed back from a huge deficit in the rubber game to defeat Indonesia’s world No 4 Muhammad Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto 17-21, 21-16, 27-25 in a pulsating match that lasted 81 minutes.

They showed true determination when they managed to catch up from 9-15 and then go on to take the lead at 19-18 in the decider.
