PETALING JAYA: A snatch thief, who left a trail of injured victims in a spree of robberies around the Timur Laut district in Penang, was finally arrested in Sitiawan, Perak, on Oct 12.
Penang police chief Azizee Ismail said the 39-year-old man was arrested by a team from the Timur Laut police headquarters’ special crimes division in a raid on a house at 2am.
&#8220;The suspect cruised around on his motorcycle and targeted male bikers wearing gold chains.
“We believe that with his arrest, police have solved 11 robbery cases in Penang and three cases in Kulim, Kedah,&#8221; Bernama reported him as saying.
He said the suspect tested positive for drugs and has a police record for 14 offences related to crime and drugs.
Separately, Azizee said the four suspects held for investigation in the murder of a man whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase near the Ampang Jajar flats in Permatang Pauh are all Malaysians.
He said the suspects, including two women, were arrested by a team from the Penang police’s serious crimes investigation division in Butterworth and Kampar, Perak, following intelligence and surveillance.
