PETALING JAYA: Former Klang MP Charles Santiago has called on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to intervene in the controversy surrounding the demolition of houses at Kampung Jalan Papan, saying a prolonged crisis could diminish Pakatan Harapan’s credibility.
In an open letter to the prime minister, Santiago, of DAP, said Anwar should direct the Selangor government to honour its long-standing commitment to provide the affected families with the homes they were promised.
Most important, he said, was for Anwar to put an end to the aggressive policing that “has transformed a housing dispute into a spectacle of fear”.
