PETALING JAYA: Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil today visited Mohanram Atchuthan, whose stroke left him unable to support his family of six.
Fahmi, who is also the PKR information chief, visited Mohanram to hand over aid and a food hamper.
He added that he will get the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) to check if Mohanram was eligible to receive any aid from the organisation. 
&#8220;He has a child who wants to further his studies, so we will see how we can help them. Another child is studying in Ipoh and needs a laptop, my parliamentary office will help meet that need,&#8221; he said. 
Last month, <a href="https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/leisure/2025/04/18/father-of-4-needs-help-after-stroke-leaves-family-in-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FMT reported</a> that the 62-year old construction worker, who was the sole breadwinner of the family, suffered a stroke in 2022.
The stroke left the father of four unable to speak, read and write as well as suffering from memory loss.
The family were on the brink of being evicted, and they were unable to afford education fees, or even their next meal. 
One of Mohanram’s friends, Ravindran Raman Kutty, has been helping them financially for the past four months.
Through crowdfunding, he was able to raise RM8,173, which is being used to cover house rental, school expenses, and allowances.
Separately, the Suriana Welfare Society Malaysia has stepped in to help by providing essentials in the short term.
The NGO aims to raise RM190,000 to cover the family for the next three to four years, until the children are able to stand on their own feet.
