PETALING JAYA: The owner of a food supply company has been remanded for allegedly submitting claim documents for about RM450,000 containing false information related to a skills training programme.
The three-day remand order, effective from Oct 28, was issued following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission at the Putrajaya magistrates’ court yesterday morning.
Berita Harian quoted a source from MACC as saying the woman, in her 50s, was arrested at about 8.45pm on Monday when she was summoned to give her statement at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
“The suspect is believed to have committed the offence in 2018 by submitting food supply claims for a skills training programme to a government agency through a foundation based in the capital.
“Initial investigations found that several individuals whose names were used in the claims denied taking part in the programme, and the food supplies in question were allegedly never delivered as stated in the application,” the source said.
MACC senior investigation director Zainul Darus confirmed the arrest and said the case is being probed under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
