KUALA LUMPUR: Located just about an hour’s drive from the federal capital, Kuala Selangor is known not only as a seafood paradise and a popular spot for <a href="https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/top-lifestyle/2022/02/16/fireflies-and-blue-tears-magical-experiences-in-kuala-selangor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">firefly watching</a> &#8211; it also offers many other fascinating attractions.
Here are just four activities you can look forward to during a visit to this picturesque town in the northwestern part of Selangor.
Traditional Games Museum
Home to 44 types of traditional games, the building that houses this <a href="https://selangor.travel/listing/kuala-selangor-traditional-games-museum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">museum </a>at Bukit Malawati here was built in 1904 and retains its original structure.

Visitors can check out various materials used for games once popular in Selangor and other states. These include a 40-year-old congkak set, various wau, shell checkers, batu Seremban (pick-up stones), catapults and tins.
A dedicated area allows visitors to try selected games themselves, making it a fun and interactive experience for all ages.
The museum is open daily except on Mondays. Entry fee is RM3 for Malaysian adults, RM8 for non-citizens, and free for children.
Kuala Selangor mural street art

This iconic alley in the old town of Kuala Selangor features about 20 mural artworks depicting stories of Bukit Malawati, which once served as a fortress during the reign of the Selangor sultanate in the 18th and early 19th centuries.
One particularly eye-catching mural depicts the legend of Makam Anak Dara, said to be the story of a girl who mysteriously disappeared on the night of her wedding.
Eagle feeding at Sungai Selangor

Looking for a &#8220;wild&#8221; experience? Eagle-feeding activities at the Selangor River have become one of the main attractions in Pasir Penambang here.
A 30- to 45-minute boat ride along the river brings visitors close to the natural habitat of various eagle species, while offering breathtaking views of the estuary.
Tickets for this activity cost RM25 and RM20 for Malaysian adults and children, and RM50 and RM40 for non-Malaysian adults and children, respectively.
Selangor Fruit Valley

For a fun-filled and educational agrotourism experience, make a stop at the <a href="https://selangorfruitvalley.my/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Selangor Fruit Valley</a>.
Located about 10 minutes from town and spanning some 946ha, this tropical fruit and vegetable farm is one of the most popular agrotourism attractions in the state.
The area includes sections for fruit and vegetable cultivation, animal farming, and stingless-bee rearing. Local fruits here include coconut, guava, durian, ciku, mango, mangosteen and nangcem, a unique hybrid of jackfruit and cempedak.
Visitors can also hop on a tram to tour the farm and enjoy the vast greenery: an ideal way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
