PETALING JAYA: A member of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) charged with possession of 38 banned publications related to Al-Arqam has submitted fresh representations to the Attorney-General’s Chambers seeking a review of the charge.
Lawyer Boestamam Ahmad, representing Aishah Bula Tajudin, 61, informed magistrate Farah Nabihah Dan the representations had been submitted, and requested that the trial dates fixed for today and tomorrow be vacated.
“We have once again submitted representations to the AGC to review the charge in this case. Therefore, we are requesting an adjournment of the trial dates to allow the AGC sufficient time to consider the representations,” Bernama reported Boestamam as saying.
Deputy public prosecutor Amritpreet Kaur Randhawa did not object.
Farah set Jan 22 for the outcome of the second representations, and April 2 and 3 as the trial dates, if needed.
Boestamam told reporters later the second representations were submitted on Nov 20, following the rejection of the first representations last year.
Aishah was charged with possessing 38 banned publications linked to Al-Arqam at a premise at Kampung Sungai Penchala in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, at 11.30am on Sept 21 last year.
The charge is framed under Section 8(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984, which provides a maximum fine of RM5,000 upon conviction.
