PETALING JAYA: The Public Relations Practitioners&#8217; Society of Malaysia (PRPSM) will host its inaugural Global Public Relations Conference and Festival at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur from Nov 13 to Nov 15.
PRPSM chairman and conference organiser P Kamalanathan said the three-day event aimed to elevate the role of public relations and communications in Malaysia and the region.
The former deputy education minister also emphasised the relevance of public relations beyond crisis situations and building brands, saying it helps foster responsibility to the community and involvement in corporate social responsibility.
&#8220;Public relations needs to be understood by everyone because crises happen everywhere. As a professional, you must understand how communication and crisis management work,&#8221; he told FMT.
Themed &#8220;Humanity Amplified: Redefining Public Relations in the Age of Intelligence&#8221;, the conference will cover communication strategies, the internationalisation of public relations, and the impact of technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Each day will focus on separate sub-themes such as navigating influence in a fragmented world, and governance, policy and digital ethics.
The event is expected to attract up to 1,000 participants, including more than 200 foreign delegates.
Confirmed speakers include Perak&#8217;s Sultan Nazrin Shah, who will officiate the conference and deliver the keynote address, former ministers Idris Jala and Khairy Jamaluddin, and former UK Chartered Institute of Public Relations president Jason McKenzie.
Speakers from Japan, India, Australia, Singapore and Africa will also attend.
The RM3,500 fee includes meals, a gala dinner and award night. A 10% early bird discount is available, and PRPSM members will receive 25% off. Daily passes are priced at RM1,500.
Participants will also gain access to four masterclasses on verbal and non-verbal communication.
Kamalanathan said 100 university students would be invited to attend for free to gain hands-on experience.
