PETALING JAYA: A former member of the armed forces was freed by the Ipoh sessions court today from charges of sexually assaulting and raping a teenage girl four years ago.
Utusan Malaysia reported that judge Jean Sharmila Jesudason made the ruling after finding that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against Muhazzam Shah Salem, 40.
She said the court found inconsistencies and gaps in the prosecution’s case that were not explained by police investigations or the statements of prosecution witnesses, especially that of the victim.
