PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s challenge at the BWF Super 500 Korea Open came to an end with the defeat of two mixed doubles pairs, the country&#8217;s only two representatives in the quarter-finals today.
Malaysia&#8217;s shuttlers were all knocked out in the early stages in what is said to be their worst performance in this season&#8217;s tournaments.
First to fall today were world No 8 pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai, who were beaten by China’s world No 1 pair Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin 9-21, 21-18, 8-21 in 41 minutes.
The Chinese pair have now beaten the Malaysians nine times in their 10 encounters.
This was followed by another mixed doubles pair defeat as Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien lost tamely to Danish duo Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje 12-21, 8-21.
The Malaysians had no answer to the power and accuracy displayed by the Danes who won in just 32 minutes.
