PETALING JAYA: An MCA Youth leader has defended the party’s approach to its future in Barisan Nasional, describing it as responsible politics rather than “dragging its feet”.
MCA Youth information chief Neow Choo Seong said MCA must consult its members at every level before making its final decision, and the party should not react recklessly.
Leaving the BN coalition would only be an option if backed by “solid facts and figures”, he said in response to criticism by former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker, who said MCA has lost its direction.
Ti said MCA was trapped in a “cycle of postponement”, with the decision being shifted from divisional delegates to state delegates, and finally deferred to central delegates at the party’s general assembly next month.
However, in a statement today, Neow said: “The party is in fact moving forward through proper and principled processes.”
He said: “Politics is not a sprint; it is about timing and strategy. As a seasoned politician, Ti should know that even ‘one night is too long’ in politics.”
He urged Ti to offer constructive solutions instead of casting doubt from the sidelines.
