The communications ministry says the funding through Finas aims to promote national pride and unity through film and TV.

PETALING JAYA: The government has spent RM22.7 million to produce 44 films and television programmes with patriotic and national themes, says the communications ministry.

Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the funds were channelled through the Creative Content Fund under the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) to help nurture local filmmakers and promote stories of national struggle and identity.

“We want to support works that build love for the country. This includes films on our history, our heroes and the values that hold us together,” he said in a written parliamentary reply to Zahari Kechik (PN-Jeli).
