Penang police chief Azizee Ismail says the number of violent crime cases also dropped from 732 to 591, which is an 18.3% reduction.

PETALING JAYA: There has been a significant drop in the crime rate in Penang based on the statistics for the first nine months of the year.

Penang police chief Azizee Ismail said 2,400 cases were reported compared with 3,847 during the same period last year, Bernama reported.

This is equivalent to a drop of 28.7% or 1,447 cases.
