PETALING JAYA: The Putrajaya MRT line has resumed normal service as of 5.27pm following a disruption due to three people having intruded on the rail line in a suspected cable theft attempt.
In a statement, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the intrusion was reported around 2.24pm somewhere between the Sri Damansara Barat and Sri Damansara Sentral stations.
&#8220;The individuals are suspected to have been involved in an attempt to steal cables at the location. As a precautionary measure, power to the tracks was cut to allow auxiliary policemen to check the area and locate the suspects.
&#8220;Police were mobilised to the scene soon after a report was lodged by Rapid Rail,&#8221; it said. However, the statement did not mention if the three suspects were caught.
The rail operator apologised for the inconvenience caused to commuters, while alternative train and bus services have ended with the full resumption of the MRT line.
This is the third disruption to the Putrajaya MRT line in two weeks.
Last month, a disruption believed to have been caused by cable theft forced train services to be operated manually, while another disruption occurred after a person intruded on the train tracks.
The individual was detained by the authorities.
