Eight volunteer fire and rescue teams are unable to reach the stranded Malaysians as six main routes from Hatyai to the border are submerged in over a metre of water.

PETALING JAYA: Floodwaters over one metre deep on six routes from Hatyai to the Malaysia–Thailand border have forced rescue teams to halt their mission to help stranded Malaysians return home.

Leong Beng Tat, chairman of the Sungai Petani volunteer fire and rescue team (PBS), said the main road from Hatyai to Sadao was submerged, Sinar Harian reported.

“We were informed that it’s not just one route that is affected; there are five other routes that are also flooded,” he was quoted as saying.
