Traders are likely favouring safe-haven currencies like the US dollar to mitigate excessive volatility, say analysts.

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit depreciated against the US dollar at the close today as traders and investors are concerned about the reciprocal tariff announcement by the US government later today, said an analyst.

Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Afzanizam Rashid said details of the tariff would be closely scrutinised as this would determine the impact of such a trade war.
