PETALING JAYA: The family of a victim attacked by two Rottweilers in Taman Desa Bidara, Kuala Ketil, on Tuesday is planning to take legal action against the owner of the dogs, which were put down yesterday.
Nur Na&#8217;im Baharuddin, 36, said he wanted justice for his 66-year-old mother, Khadijah Abdullah, who was the first to be attacked by the dogs.
&#8220;My mum was badly injured in the attack. Her scalp was torn, she had bite wounds on various parts of her body, and her face was badly swollen from a fall while attempting to escape.
&#8220;We have already appointed lawyers and will take the next step once she recovers and we get a hold of the complete medical report,&#8221; he said, according to Berita Harian.
Abdulazim Abdul Hamid, chairman of the residential area&#8217;s neighbourhood watch, confirmed that the other four victims were also planning to take legal action.
&#8220;From my conversations with them, I understand that they are planning to take legal action jointly,&#8221; he said.
The owner of the dogs, Chong Shen Chong, 69, said he had  apologised to the victims but acknowledged that it was their right to sue him.
&#8220;I have visited the victims in hospital and apologised. I understand that they are still in an emotional state following the incident.
&#8220;One of them told me they plan to take legal action and that&#8217;s within their right,&#8221; he said.
The two Rottweilers, both four years old, were euthanised yesterday after Chong allowed the veterinary services department to do so.
They had reportedly escaped from their cage before attacking the victims in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The dogs reportedly attacked and injured a university lecturer two years ago.
