PETALING JAYA: National men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani secured a quarter-final spot at the Australian Open after a hard-fought second-round victory over a Taiwanese pair today.

The world No. 4 duo, who narrowly missed out on a World Tour Finals spot, took nearly an hour to beat the 12th-ranked Lee Jhe Hui-Yang Po Hsuan 21-23, 21-17, 21-10 in the last-16 tie at Sydney Olympic Park.

They will face either compatriots Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King or the South Korean-Malaysian combination of Choi Sol Gyu-Goh V Shem in tomorrow’s quarter-final.
