PETALING JAYA: The curtains have closed on the 17th Sabah state election, with the Election Commission confirming a hung state assembly in which no single party obtained a simple majority to form the state government.
Nonetheless, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman Hajiji Noor was sworn in shortly after the results were confirmed. He received the backing of five independent candidates, three assemblymen from Upko, and one from Pakatan Harapan.
This gives Hajiji a simple majority to form the state government.
