The Segambut MP’s lawyer says her client is entitled to claim RM400,000 in damages and RM80,000 in legal costs, as no stay has been granted yet.

PETALING JAYA: Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh has initiated bankruptcy proceedings against Universiti Utara Malaysia lecturer Kamarul Zaman Yusoff after he failed to pay more than RM400,000 in damages and costs awarded for defaming her.

Yeoh’s lawyer, Sangeet Kaur Deo, told FMT that Kamarul had not paid the damages and costs despite the High Court’s decision in May.

“So, we have commenced bankruptcy proceedings against him.
