PETALING JAYA: Two out of six Malaysians previously detained by Thai authorities over drug-related offences, including dikir barat singer Wan Norshaheeda Azlin Wan Ismail, returned to Malaysia this evening.
Bernama reported that Wan Norshaheeda, popularly known as Eda Ezrin, and Nur Aida Mamat, 33, are currently under the custody of the Kelantan narcotics crime investigation department (NCID).
Bukit Aman NCID director Hussein Omar Khan said the remaining four individuals are still in Thailand, pending passport activation before they can be repatriated.
“All six are assisting Thai authorities in further investigations,” he said.
The four still held in Thailand are Eridieka Noor, 33; Zuhaira Nasrin, 26; Wan Norshaheeda’s husband, Affendi Ahmad, 35; and Alif Deraman, 33.
In March, the court in Narathiwat freed Wan Norshaheeda, her husband and four others over a charge of possessing 6,059 yaba pills.
A two-judge panel made the decision after finding no evidence to connect the possession of the drugs with the accused – the 30-year-old singer; Affendi, Eridieka, Alif, Nur Aida and Zuhaira.
The court also found the CCTV footage from a hotel in Sungai Golok failed to show that the six had brought the drugs into the rooms.
