WASHINGTON: Former US President Joe Biden recently underwent surgery to remove cancerous cells from his skin, a spokesman for the Democrat said on Friday.
The procedure, known as Mohs surgery, is commonly used to treat the most common forms of skin cancer.
The surgery comes just months after Biden, 82, revealed in May that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. His team described the illness as aggressive but hormone-sensitive, meaning it is likely to respond to treatment.
