The commission asks TikTok to explain its monitoring mechanism and internal enforcement for content or ads believed to be meant for criminal purposes.

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has asked TikTok to explain how it monitors suspicious content following reports of syndicates recruiting drug mules through the platform.

This comes after a syndicate reportedly duped several individuals into attempting to smuggle drugs to Manchester in the UK through job offers via TikTok.

“MCMC has asked for an official explanation from TikTok concerning its monitoring mechanism and internal enforcement for content or ads believed to be meant for criminal purposes,” the commission said in a statement.
