About RM200,000 was contributed by FAM from football match ticket sales, says acting environment minister Johari Ghani.

SHAH ALAM: More than RM2 million has been raised by a campaign to save the Malayan tiger since its launch in 2021, said the acting environment minister, Johari Ghani.

He said the Football Association of Malaysia contributed about RM200,000 to the campaign through proceeds from football match ticket sales. The national football team is also named Harimau Malaya after the national animal.

The Malayan tiger is the smallest tiger subspecies in Southeast Asia and is listed as critically endangered and at extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.
