ALOR SETAR: PAS has raised some RM5.86 million for the construction of its new headquarters, which will be located near Putrajaya.
PAS treasurer Iskandar Abdul Samad said most of the amount had been spent on purchasing a piece of land near Putrajaya where the headquarters will stand.
After deducting costs for the land, taxes, legal and planning fees, as well as surveyor charges, the party has a balance of RM528,430 from the amount raised.
“After over 20 years, PAS finally owns land under its name through a registered trustee,” he said in tabling the party’s financial report at its 71st muktamar here.
Iskandar said the building&#8217;s design was now being finalised with the architect, with the planning permission application to be submitted in January or February.
He said the project was targeted for completion in three to four years, but the land could already be used by the party.
“If we want to hold the muktamar there in a tent, just like what we did in Johor before, we can,” he said.
PAS&#8217;s headquarters is currently located along Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur.
The new building is expected to come with a convention hall, featuring a futuristic concept.
He added that the Kelantan PAS chapter topped the list of donations, followed by Terengganu and Selangor.
Iskandar also said the party still had a positive cash balance of about RM700,000 to RM800,000.
“Almost 50% of our expenses go into running programmes. Money is meant to be used, not hoarded,” he added.
Iskandar said PAS was now banking on its “Infaq Istiqamah” monthly donation scheme, targeting at least 10% of members to participate.
If successful, this could yield up to RM1 million a month, he said. However, only 10,543 members have signed up, less than 2% of PAS&#8217;s total membership.
