ALOR SETAR: PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari wants to establish an “influencer academy” to churn out content creators nationwide to help the party win the next general election.
He said these influencers would help PAS highlight hyperlocal issues, including road or drainage issues, that have often been raised by the party’s rivals, especially in PAS-led states.
He added that such an academy would enhance the party&#8217;s social media presence and also better protect its current content creators who have come under criminal investigations.
“Many of the digital content creators who helped PAS win in past elections are currently being pressured by the authorities. They deserve protection,” he said at the party’s 71st muktamar here.
In 2022, the son of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said its social media campaign via TikTok helped the party to win 49 seats in the 15th general election (GE15).
Khalil Abdul Hadi was reported to have said that analyses showed most young voters and Malay voters got their first-hand information from social media platforms, such as TikTok.
Fadhli’s proposal for an &#8220;influencer academy&#8221; follows a plea by delegate, Mardhiyyah Johari for legal courses to be organised for the party’s content creators.
Mardhiyyah, who herself is being probed by police over a social media post critical of the government, said such courses were vital as many influencers from PAS have been threatened with lawsuits or subjected to police probes.
