PETALING JAYA: Parti Keluarga Malaysia has yet to be registered as a political party, with its initial application rejected by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) in 2022, says Wan Saiful Wan Jan.
The Tasek Gelugor MP, formerly of Bersatu, said a new registration &#8220;process&#8221; was ongoing, Berita Harian reported.
&#8220;I was informed that there are no issues for us to join the party&#8230; if there are any issues, we will resolve them immediately,&#8221; Wan Saiful said, adding that he had joined opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin in discussions on taking over the party.
RoS director-general Zulfikar Ahmad meanwhile said that Parti Keluarga Malaysia had yet to file a new application for registration as a political party.
He warned that political parties operating without registration could face action under the Societies Act 1966.
&#8220;Its application was rejected in 2022 because it did not meet the requirements set out under the First Schedule of the Societies Act 1966.
&#8220;This includes clauses on party governance which must be clearly stated in the party&#8217;s constitution, such as sources of funding, committee composition, and procedures for holding general meetings,&#8221; he said.
On Tuesday, Hamzah confirmed discussions to join and lead Parti Keluarga Malaysia after its founder, Khairi Jaya, reportedly said that a takeover was &#8220;90% confirmed&#8221;.
This followed Bersatu&#8217;s move to expel Hamzah at the height of his leadership tussle with party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
