PETALING JAYA: Thailand’s world No 3 mixed doubles pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran proved too strong for Malaysians Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai in their quarter-final tie at the Arctic Open today.

Soon Huat-Shevon, the world No 8 pair, had no answer to the powerful Thai duo, losing 12-21, 14-21 in a match lasting 34 minutes at the Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland.

The Malaysian husband-and-wife team qualified for the semi-finals of the championships last year but failed to make it to the final.
